MSN has _finally_ released a web based client for their MSN Messenger IM software. The interface is pretty incredible (read: simple, and nearly identical to it's desktop brethren), and it groups chat windows on XP with other desktop messenger windows. It's about damn time...well done.

lmfao... (technical blogs coming soon, I promise). You're Augustus, the first emperor of Rome. He had a lot of drive and skill, possessing a respectable spirit and the ability to persuade. His wife was alwasys in his ear, she has a BIGGER persuasive spirit. He's a God. What Julio-Claudian Roman Emperor...

This is my first post via BlogJet (huge ups to James Avery for the recommendation). The interface to this app is in stark contrast to VisualBlogger (see previous post) in that it's pretty simple and straightforward; very intuitive. I am not looking forward to paying 20 bucks for it though. The main selling...

I've decided to take the VisualBlogger beta for a test drive. While I certainly appreciate the effort that has been into the .Text editor, I've pretty much had it with all the quirkiness. w.bloggar doesn't support cross-posting (VisualBlogger does), plus VisualBlogger has built in code formatting/highlighting...

<randomGamingPost> I refused to buy the game before the DVD came out as I had heard there were quite a few cut scenes from the movie in the game...but wow was it worth the wait. Cooperative play is the best I've seen in any game (save for Halo), and the integration of the movie plot itself is ingenious...

This week was my first week back to work, and I already learned something new (that's why I love what I do...constantly learning)...that is, I learned it when I wasn't walking to and from work in the rain (5 minute walk, however it has rained here for about a week straight). The first project I've been...

I normally wouldn't get in a tizzy about something as fickle as a Google ranking, however I did take a little pride in knowing that I owned the top spot for both “Jayson Knight” and “Jayson Blog”. Well, no longer. I don't even know what my ranking is now, I got sick of hitting...

I have accepted a position with a large local financial company (if you've even heard of Charlotte, you can guess that it's one of two, and your first guess is probably correct) as a .Net developer. I'm still a little hazy on the actual details, we went over a lot of stuff during the interviews, but...

I have had my first paying publication (it's always nice to actually get paid for stuff, and to be honest, I didn't even realize I was going to be paid for this submission until well after I submitted it...I didn't do it for the money). It's a short blurb in the June issue of “ Windows and .Net...

Which OS are You? Hmm...interesting. Take the quiz yourself!

While it's hardly news (article is dated 02/20/2004), I've always wondered what happened on Mars with the rover...it just took a while to find any info about it. As is usually the norm with computers/software issues, the problem was somewhere between the chair and the computer. Favorite quote from the...

I stumbled across this article written by a Java developer about his thoughts on Microsoft. As usual, I will refrain from commenting on this subject (flames aren't my cup of tea).

I've been itching to post about gmail, but didn't want egg on my face about it being some sort of long drawn out April fool's prank. My initial concern with gmail was “how on earth can it be cost effective to offer a gig of email storage to every subscriber?” Well, apparently it's quite cost...

It looks like everything isn't all roses concerning the ever slipping ship date of Whidbey, along with tying framework versions to IDE's. Plus, where are our service packs? Read the posts here , here , and here . Some excellent points are made.

It could be soon (in Canada at least) . Hopefully America will wake up and smell the mp3's soon. My favorite paragraph from the story: “The regulators cited a long-standing rule in Canada, in which most copying for personal use was allowed. To repay artists and record labels for revenue lost by...

This sounds a bit like the process we use at work (though we certainly don't mean to).

I've stumbled across a few of these on the web over the last week or two and decided to compile them into a post. I can relate to these whole heartedly. If anyone has any additions, feel free to send them in: Q: What is your advice to someone contemplating a career in the computer industry today? A:...

What a wonderful day for science! The New York Times article is much better, however you have to register first. We all knew it was coming, we just didn't know from where. I personally think it's a monumental step forward and research like this could vastly improve our standard of living, so long as...

it's been a while since i've posted a blog, i know...60 hour weeks really get to you after a while. i love technology and all, but sometimes enough is enough...my own dog doesn't even recognize me when i get home from work anymore. it's pretty rare that i get wriled up by the way a company chooses to...
