Note; If you don't feel like reading this entire post, at least read this: Start8 from Stardock Corp (30 day free trial, 5 bucks after that, and well worth it IMO): Get your start button back, disable hotspots, and boot directly to the desktop with that utility. Otherwise, read on. This post is not...

Fast forward to 2012, and Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn are ubiquitous, and Tumblr is a...

My new eSata drive arrived today...Newegg was having a special, so I got 320 gigs for 80 bucks. You can't beat that, save for one thing: It didn't come with an eSata cable. Price of said cable? 20 bucks , and it has to be ordered seeing as no one in a brick and mortar around here carries them...

A while back, the story about inhaleable alcohol broke over the internet (I can't find the specific link, but this was announced several years ago in 2004). Fast forward to today, and there's an article floating around stating the machines have been banned in my home state of North Carolina ...
Through my daily reading of tech news, I came across this dandy: Netscape Navigator 9 Beta released . Wait a second, you mean to tell me that Netscape A) even still exists and B) is still releasing new versions of Navigator? Until reading that headline today, Netscape had ceased to exist in my mind....
Twenty days since my last post...in the 3+ years I've been running this blog I don't think I've ever gone that long. Hopefully the two of you that read this site haven't jumped ship quite yet. Regardless... The job that I was so incredibly stoked about turned out to be quite the nightmare, and thus my...
Microsoft has done a good job when it comes to event naming within the BCL by following a common naming pattern: the gerund form of the verb is used during the act of doing something (i.e. Form.Closing), whereas the past tense is used after the act has completed (ala Form.Closed). They've also done a...
[update]I forgot to mention this is on Windows XP x64.[/update] I'm still experiencing some random hangs on my rebuilt machine every couple of hours or so and have finally decided to get off my lazy rear end and track down why it's happening. I'm 90% sure it's related to my sound card driver, but of...
