• Mono 1.1.5 Released

  Mono 1.1.5 has been released ( release notes here ): Mono 1.1.5 has been released; Major highlights include Nullable Types and Fixed Size Buffer features in the compiler; Much more improved Windows.Forms implementations; Increased performance, reduced memory usage. Man, these guys are quick…makes me hopeful that they’ll start closing in on .Net 2.x soon. In other Mono news, it looks like there is finally a Fedora Core 3 package (my taste de jour for *nix) for Mono, albeit a previous version... • Mono on Fedora Core 3? Not Yet...

  Earlier I mentioned getting Fedora Core 3 installed on Virtual PC so I can start playing around with Mono on Linux. I finally managed to summon up the courage to attempt the install (figuring it would be a long night...I walked the dog early, bought a six pack, turned the phone off, replied to all the emails I needed to, etc), and lo and behold it turns out there isn't a Mono package available for Fedora Core 3. Ummm...ok? No, not ok actually. In the list of supported OS's, there is a smattering... • Fedora Core 3 -- Virtual PC

  Hello from Fedora Core 3 (running on VPC)! I should mention that I am a complete linux noob before I continue (I can spell l-i-n-u-x, and that's about it). This isn't my first foray into linux land (I had a round with SuSE 7.0 previously...perhaps 3 years ago?), but it is indeed my first successful one, I never could find drivers for my Voodoo 4 video card for SuSE, so it was basically unusable. Onwards to now... I won't comment on how I feel about Open Source Software (OSS, and linux in particular...
