  • JK.com -- Feedburner Pro Enabled

I posted a while back about the Feedburner MyBrand service ...I've been taking it for a spin on some other low traffic feeds and am nothing less than blown away, so JK.com is now Feedburner enabled and ready to rock. Community Server 2007 has built in support for Feedburner out of the box; it's as simple as plugging values into a couple of textboxes, flipping a switch or two, and blammo...syndication feeds are burnerized. What that all means is that the transition should be seamless for existing...
  • Linked To By Wiki -- Note To Self, Write Better Articles

I recently noticed a reasonable spike in traffic around here a few days ago; turns out an entry of mine got linked to by a Wiki article (no, I didn't make the link from Wiki myself ;-)). The point of this entry isn't to garner kudos or pat myself on the back (of course the ego points do make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside). The point is that the article that was linked to mentions in passing the point: A breaking change in the .Net framework from 1.x to 2.0. If you were to go strictly by the title...
  • Feedburner MyBrand Service -- Brand Your Feedburner Feed

I've had a Feedburner account for a while now, but have been reluctant to throw the switch on my site's feeds over to it...while I may not have a huge circulation (and therefore no "brand" to adhere to), I'd like to keep what little recognition I do have in my feed address instead of the generic feedburner.com/whatever, i.e. my name (or in the case of clients, their company name, etc). Feedburner now offers a pretty impressive array of services, so I was in the process of giving in and started to...
  • Bon Voyage Weblogs.Asp.Net Feed

During my last round of Rss feed pruning, I finally deleted weblogs.asp.net (it's been a long time coming). Too many of the following: Duplicate posts about the same news item. Posts linking to other posts on weblogs.asp.net essentially saying "yeah me too" or "so-and-so posted about the following." Posts that are locale specific (i.e. speaker in blah part of the country type stuff). AJAX related fluff posts. I'd say out of 20 posts, maybe 1 of them actually piques any interest from me anymore. Nothing...
  • First Post Via Windows Live Writer

Kevin Harder recently sent out an email to the Community Server internal alias with a link to Windows Live Writer (beta), which is a new desktop blog posting tool from Microsoft (I currently use BlogJet for all of my posting needs, but so far I'm very impressed with the WLW GUI from what I've seen). Installation was painless; there's an option for Community Server as your blogging platform so it pretty much configured itself. Gotta love that. I don't think Dmitry over at BlogJet will be too happy...
  • Fixed Width vs Variable Width Websites

I wanted to get some feedback from you guys on the whole “fixed vs variable width” debate for website design. JK.com is (and always has been) a variable width site, and will more than likely continue to be for the foreseeable future, but I’ve seen some pretty good arguments as of late pushing fixed width design as it lends itself to better readability, and works better across different screen resolutions. I personally prefer variable width mainly due to the fact that since I paid...
