  • "Rome" Is Off To A Fantastic Start

"Rome" on HBO (stateside at least) was one of the sleeper hits from summer of '05... the wiki is pretty interesting . The season premier for season 2 aired this past weekend, and it seems to be off to a fantastic start. Unfortunately due to production costs, this will be the final season. Bummer. Generally speaking I don't get into characters from TV shows too much, but wow do I feel for Vorenus . Marc Antony is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with as well. Eagerly anticipating episodes to...
  • Download Page Up and Running

There is a new tab on my site called Downloads (thanks in no small part to this guy’s work…check out his downloads page for more nifty CS mods). For now the ability to right click/save as is disabled to prevent hot linking…I will be working on some sort of solution to enable this in the future (without the need to register on the site). RSS folks will have to wait a bit, though I will most definitely be getting an RSS feed set up for this page shortly. I will also be working on some sort of file...
  • Howard Stern OnDemand

Howard Stern OnDemand is coming (I predicted he’d get his own uncensored TV spot around the time he moves to Sirius). This oughta be great! I can’t wait to see what he comes up with now that he’s free of the FCC. Share this post: | | | | |
  • The Office -- What's the Hype About?

So I’ve now watched two episodes of NBC’s new comedy, “ The Office ”…quite frankly I don’t understand what all the buzz is about. It’s nowhere near as funny as the original BBC version ; actually, the American version is dreadful at best. There were some funny scenes, but overall it’s repetitive, dull, and downright boring (which is unfortunate as Steve Carell is actually a really funny actor; I almost pissed myself over his scene in Bruce Almighty …if you’ve seen it, you know which one I’m talking...
  • Hunter S. Thompson -- RIP

Hunter S. Thompson apparently decided he had enough of his “ gonzo journalism ” lifestyle and decided to take his own life early this morning…what a tragic loss to the journalism community. I guess the irony is that he commited suicide; we all figured that he would have OD’d long before that…and we’ll all miss him. His unique writing style was refreshing; someone we could all wish to live vicariously through…ok, someone I lived vicariously through. RIP. Fear...
  • Blockbuster Dropping Late Fees

Per CNNmoney ( full article here ): Blockbuster Inc. announced Tuesday it is abolishing late fees on all its video tapes, DVDs and video games as of Jan. 1. This is another prime example of a brick and mortar store feeling pressure from similar internet based businesses; namely NetFlix . Neither model really suits me (I'm a Blockbuster member (who isn't), and I was a NetFlix member for the first few months of their launch a few years back)...I like owning stuff. I will only rent a DVD A) if it's...
  • What's Jayson Watching on TV?

[Update 12/07] I must have jinxed myself with this post; 2 of the shows listed below are off my schedule (see strikethroughs, comments). I don't watch much TV (aside from DVD's or playing XBox), but there are a few shows I watch on a regular weekly basis (in case anyone ever feels like discussing “last night's episode of (whatever)”: Mon: Monster House on Discovery Channel -- 8PM :: 5th Gear on Speed Network -- 9PM (Timeslot moved to 9AM, I've already emailed a complaint). Tue: Scrubs...
  • Magnolia -- A Must See Movie

I don't know how Magnolia slipped under my radar back in 1999 (actually I do, it was a great year for movies (ala American Beauty, Cider House Rules, Sixth Sense, The Talented Mr. Ripley, etc)...didn't have time to catch them all, plus the title sounds kinda chick-flickish...who knows), but I saw it for the first time recently. Two words; blown away. Paul Thomas Anderson really out did himself on this one. While I really enjoyed “Boogie Nights“ (another of his flicks), it was no where...
  • Redskins Determine President

I heard an interesting “fact” on Inside the NFL tonight...for the last 16 presidential elections (since 1936 for the mathematically challenged), the winner has been predicted by how the Redskins fared in the game preceeding the election; Redskins win == incumbent stays...Redskins lose == incumbent is audi. This isn't a scientific fact , but it will be interesting to see how the Redskins fare against The Pack this coming weekend vs how the election turns out. *Note to self*: buy a cheesehead...
  • Incredible Commercial (Honda's Cog Spot)

This is one of the coolest 2 minutes of video i have ever come across. It's actually a bit dated (came out about a year ago). It's a short spot for honda that features a virtually impossible scene using only parts from a honda car (no animation, no strings, 100% real, and the final cut is all 1 take, no edits). Apparently it took 606 takes , which is amazing in itself. It aired first in the UK, then spread on to other countries around the world, however it never made it to the US. If you...
