• School Starts on Monday

  As of this coming Monday (7/7/2008) I am a college student once again. I am taking 6 hours worth of classes here at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 2nd summer session. I also have other huge news to write about, but everything isn't quite nailed down yet so I don't want to jump to any foregone conclusions only to perhaps have to retract them later on. • DrumSTRONG 2008: A Smashing Success -- Thank You Scott and Mason!

  Three years ago, a friend of my family's teenage son was diagnosed with cancer, and was given fairly bleak chances of making it through the ordeal. It was a crushing blow to the family. For the full story, read the ESPN piece on Mason (he's the last story). Mason would go on to conquer the cancer inside his body, and has been cancer free for a couple of years now. Against all odds. And it was during this time that he reached out to one of my idols, Lance Armstrong...the 2 had a bit of dialogue... • Heading Back To School, Finishing Up My Degree

  After a long round of thinking about the future, my short and long term goals, and my overall level of happiness, I've decided to finally head back to school to finish up my degree.   A very good friend of mine, Matt Brandau recently got married to a wonderful woman, and I had the pleasure of attending. Here are some photos from the festivities . • Bought A Condo -- Celadon Greenway

  We've bought a condo! Actually, we put a deposit down on it a few months ago, but things were a little dicey after the Microsoft shake up . Everything has leveled off, i.e. the new job is going swimmingly and we're forging ahead. There is one issue with our new purchase: They haven't been built yet. Actually they just broke ground about 2 weeks ago, and construction is expected to to complete sometime next Spring so we're in full blown hurry up and wait mode. The development itself... • MSDN Event In Charlotte – Silverlight, LINQ and WCF

  Microsoft is having an MSDN event here in Charlotte on the 16th of August with topics on Silverlight, LINQ and WCF, all of which are pretty exciting technologies coming down the pipe for the Visual Studio 2008/.Net Framework 3.5 release later this year. I know I'm pretty excited about them! • Starting A New Job On Monday (7/16)

  It has been a very interesting 2 months since my last job related post ; in a nutshell I am not in Seattle and I was not able to take the position with Microsoft that I've been talking about. • This Could Only Happen In North Carolina

  A while back, the story about inhaleable alcohol broke over the internet (I can't find the specific link, but this was announced several years ago in 2004). Fast forward to today, and there's an article floating around stating the machines have been banned in my home state of North Carolina (in addition to 21 other states). My home state is at the very center of the bible belt, and is also a haven for commercial televangelism so it's not a huge surprise until you factor in the following... • Congratulations To Eric And Leigh

  This past Thursday, one of my best friends (a local artist, check out the cuffs he makes by hand) tied the knot to his beautiful bride Leigh in one of the most memorable weddings I've been to lately. He's one of the 'core' crew, and even though we've lost touch a little over the past couple of years, I love him like a brother and wish him and new wife the absolute best of luck in their life together. • And Then There Were 29

  Today marks the beginning of my 30th trip around the sun (I'm 29 for any math challenged folks). Just so everyone knows, I plan on staying 29 for a few years, so we won't be celebrating next year this time. This birthday will be low key...eating at a local Greek restaurant with friends and family, followed by some dancing: My favorite DJ (James Zabiela) is in town tonight, and he's always absolutely incredible.
