Splinter Cell Double Agent -- Not On My System (Yet)

Due to Santa being nice enough to stuff a gift certificate to Best Buy in my stocking this year, I recently picked up Splinter Cell: Double Agent.  What I didn't do was read the fine print: You must have a video card that supports shader model version 3.0.  I have an ATI 800XL, which is a pretty bangin' card for the money I paid for it 2 years ago, however it doesn't support v3.0...SCDA comes crashing down within 30 seconds of firing it up.

*sigh*

The reviews over on the Newegg page aren't very encouraging either.  Regardless, this does give me an excuse to finally break down and get a new video card (though I was waiting for the 512mb version to come out).  Hopefully it will all be worth it.

It's also worth mentioning that SCDA weighs in at a whopping 10 gigs of drive space, so it should be a lengthy play.

After finishing current games I'll think to buy this or Rainbox Six Vegas but I think second one is better.

I'm not a big fan of buying new video cards for games.  I prefer to not playing the game rather than paying money for a card.  My friend, Hamed, was doing it and finally gave up :-D

I've had that card for a couple months now and love it. I would have loved to have gotten a 512 meg version as well, but oh well...

Keyvan, yeah Vegas is next on my list...the Splinter Cell series is my 2nd favorite line of games though (behind the Half-Life series).

Bob, the only reason I would wait for the 512mb version at this point is that GRAW won't go above 1280 on cards w/ <= 256mb, but I'm desperate at this point.

I finished Call Of Duty 3 and Gears Of War in first week and was looking for a new game. My first choices
