Add A Nice Touch To Your Site -- Snap Preview

A couple of folks in the Community Server have posted about a nifty offering from the folks over at Snap.com: Snap Preview Everywhere.  It's a little gimmicky, but adds a nice touch to existing websites via just a couple of lines of javascript added to your header.  I only have 2 complaints (if you can even call them that): I wish there was an option to specify the dimensions of the snap preview window (it's tiny on my 1600x1200 monitor), and an option to open links to external sites in a new window (there is an option to disable snap previews on internal links to your own site, read the FAQ for more information), or even better honor the underlying link's target attribute...as of now all links open in the same window regardless of the target value.

There are more detailed instructions located here.

Is this a permanent addition to JK.com?  We'll see.  So far I like it.

About Jayson Knight

Jayson Knight was clueless to the computer programming world until he took a C++ class in college. The rest is proverbial history. He has been building applications targeting the .Net framework for 7 years, focusing mainly on internet technologies and database driven web application development.

Most recently he left the world of Corporate IT to finish up his degree in Chemistry, with an eye on Medical School and an Anesthesiology residency program. Read this post for more information.

He is also a Community Server MVP: Community Server is the software that runs this site, plus many others on the web. For more information, check out http://csmvps.com.

When he finds time to pry himself away from his computer and university studies, he can be found on the mountain bike trails when it's warm, and on the ski slopes when it's cold.
