Wow, lots of news coming out of the Telligent camp over the past few days. Via Jose Lema:
While we’ve talked about the blog file drop (BFD) feature for a while, slated for Community Server 3.0, we recently decided to backport a portion of it into the current version of Community Server. With all hoopla of yesterday’s BlogMailr launch, we figured it best to support file attachments via the MetaWeblogAPI for our loyal users currently blogging on the Community Server platform. As such, we are happy to announce the immediate release of the Community Server 2.1 MetaBlog API Update.
This update extends the MetaWeblogAPI service in Community Server 2.1, adding support for the newMediaObject method. It will allow images and other files to be uploaded to a blog using the MetaWeblogAPI web service. Many MetaWeblogAPI clients support this method, such as Windows Live Writer and BlogMailr.
If that sounds too complicated, just know that you’ll need this to add attachments and/or inline images when using BlogMailr.
I've tested some of the beta releases from Telligent on some internal sites and have not run into any issues. It's little updates like this that are helping to push CS into the mainstream blogging realm by upping the feature set without raising the bar to high in the process. Well done guys.
