Taking Care Of Some Site Housekeeping

Earlier this evening I decided to take care of some long overdue site cleaning, as well as finally implementing some Hidden Network ads that Alex oh so graciously has bestowed upon me (Phil does a better job of summing up the new offering than I can).  For now I just have a short stack underneath my tag cloud, but over the coming days I will implement the whole shebang, i.e. the job board, better integrated ads, etc.  Initially they will be complimentary to my existing ad scheme until I get it all felt out and cozy.

In other housekeeping news, I've drastically pared down my news sidebar by eliminating virtually all of the little banners...who clicks on those things anyway.  I left a choice few, and they may disappear as well.  Also gone is my 37 item long archive list (ScottW suffered the same problem a while back)...it now has it's very own home over here (the link is located above the 2nd column of my layout).  It needs a little CSS cleanup among other things, but the goal is to get it to look something like this.  I initially set out to roll my own control for this, however most of the plumbing is already located in the CS codebase if you know where to look (which I'll outline in a future post).

Overall I feel my blog page looks cleaner and less cluttered...I'm never satisfied though, so who knows what'll be next.

About Jayson Knight

Jayson Knight was clueless to the computer programming world until he took a C++ class in college. The rest is proverbial history. He has been building applications targeting the .Net framework for 7 years, focusing mainly on internet technologies and database driven web application development.

Most recently he left the world of Corporate IT to finish up his degree in Chemistry, with an eye on Medical School and an Anesthesiology residency program. Read this post for more information.

He is also a Community Server MVP: Community Server is the software that runs this site, plus many others on the web. For more information, check out http://csmvps.com.

When he finds time to pry himself away from his computer and university studies, he can be found on the mountain bike trails when it's warm, and on the ski slopes when it's cold.
