Prefacing this with “not trying to get into my browser is better than yours” conversation. That being said, there have been
44 known security issues in Firefox since the 1.0 release back in November. I don’t have the IE (or any other software) numbers in front of me, but my initial guess is that this is pretty on-par for commercial grade software (if anyone has comparable numbers, please share). So what is the point of this post then? Proprietary or open source, paid developers or non-paid…security is just a damn hard arena to get right, regardless of the project at hand. I do give kudos to the folks over at Mozilla for the prompt fixes though…that’s one area where OSS very much excels at.
