Firefox Memory Leak?

This is the second time I’ve noticed this since upgrading from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6; looking in task manager, Firefox is sitting at a whopping 240 megs (with a maximum of 316 being reported)…5 tabs open, and they are lightweight pages in terms of size.  This is the second time in about a week…I purposely avoided the 1.0.5 upgrade due to the problems that were voiced about some plugins breaking.  I remember reading about a FF memory leak somewhere (don’t remember where), but thought this was fixed in the newest release.  Featurewise I really like FF, but it’s seemingly failing to deliver on a lot of the promises it made (security and otherwise).

Anybody else seeing this?  I’m hoping it’s just a rogue extension I have installed and not related to FF itself, but that seems pretty unlikely.  Here’s hoping for a fix, come on guys…let’s get it right man.

Meh; use the Deer Park alphas instead. I've been using them for a few months as my main browser, and no problems. I've been backing off the bleeding edge for a little bit (running a July 24th build), but that's just because I'm a wimp. It's faster, too.

About Jayson Knight

Jayson Knight was clueless to the computer programming world until he took a C++ class in college. The rest is proverbial history. He has been building applications targeting the .Net framework for 7 years, focusing mainly on internet technologies and database driven web application development.

Most recently he left the world of Corporate IT to finish up his degree in Chemistry, with an eye on Medical School and an Anesthesiology residency program. Read this post for more information.

He is also a Community Server MVP: Community Server is the software that runs this site, plus many others on the web. For more information, check out http://csmvps.com.

When he finds time to pry himself away from his computer and university studies, he can be found on the mountain bike trails when it's warm, and on the ski slopes when it's cold.
