My current mobile phone is on it’s way out (dropping calls randomly, spotty reception…the usual suspects). She’s served me well over the past 2 years, but it’s time for a change so I figured I’d see what you guys recommend. I’m currently with Cingular (and have no intentions of changing carriers); these are the 3 phones I’m currently considering:
- Siemens S66 — The price is spot on (99 bucks), and I was quite pleased with a previous Siemens phone I owned. It’s also in the C|Net top 10 list.
- Sony Ericsson S710 — Not a big fan of mail in rebates (100 bucks in this case), and at 200 bucks it’s 50 more than I want to spend, but this looks like a sweet phone. Most of my a/v equipment is Sony as well, so the proprietary Memory Stick Duo would play nice with them. I like the swivel feature as well, but the price + mail in rebate might be enough to change my mind. Not in the C|Net top 10 list, and got a fairly decent (though not great) review.
- Motorola RAZR V3 — Who doesn’t want this phone now that the price is actually affordable? At 200 bucks it’s still a little more than I want to spend (but 200 bucks w/o the hassle of a mail in rebate, so it has that on the Sony). In C|Net’s top 10 list of course…it’s a really slick phone.
What’s important to me in a mobile phone?
- First and foremost, portability/size. Must fit comfortably in my pocket.
- Ease of use/consistency of menus. This has always been a hurdle with me for phones; my current phone is dreadful in this department.
- Multimedia, but only to a certain degree (meaning I don’t the latest games, etc). I actually see myself using the video feature more than the camera feature, so that’s a plus as well.
So does anyone have one of these phones? Have another phone that you absolutely love? Cheers.
