So I’ve now watched two episodes of NBC’s new comedy, “The Office”…quite frankly I don’t understand what all the buzz is about. It’s nowhere near as funny as the original BBC version; actually, the American version is dreadful at best. There were some funny scenes, but overall it’s repetitive, dull, and downright boring (which is unfortunate as Steve Carell is actually a really funny actor; I almost pissed myself over his scene in Bruce Almighty…if
you’ve seen it, you know which one I’m talking about). The other
characters may as well not even exist in the show; it’s all
about him, and he’s just not funny. I’ve worked in some pretty
boring offices, and even they were funnier than this show. It’s
kinda sad actually, NBC could have really had a hit with this if they
wanted to. *Removed from DVR list*.
Who’s running things over at NBC lately (some sort of
primate?)? The last decent show they’ve put on the air was
Scrubs, and how long ago was that? The Apprentice is even losing
it’s stronghold IMO; this season was pretty boring and way
overdramatic. Mark Burnett is really burying himself with this
show (and The Contender, which I had zero interest in and didn’t
watch…heard absolutely dreadful things about it though), and what the
frick is he thinking with giving Martha Stewart a similar
show? Are people actually going to watch this crap? As for
the other shows on NBC that I gave a test drive: Joey = An even
worse version of Friends, Committed = same storyline every week
(watched maybe 3 episodes), won’t last. I haven’t watched
anything else on NBC, but haven’t really heard decent talk of anything
that’s on it right now. Oh well, more computer time for me.
